Students from over 35 schools across Acadiana are testing their spelling knowledge for a chance to compete at the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
And the Kiwanis Club of Lafayette is helping them get there with their Regional Spelling Bee on Friday, March 6.
Two divisions, 3rd-5th grade and 6th-8th grade, will compete Friday at the South Louisiana Community College campus in Lafayette beginning at 6:00 pm.
The top speller from the 6th through 8th grade division will go on to represent Acadiana in Washington, D.C. at this year's Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Spellers have a chance to appear on live television after making it through the preliminary rounds of national competition.
