and last updated

Tuesday, February 25 is Mardi Gras in Louisiana, but other parts of the United States will be celebrating a different type of holiday.

For some, this Mardi Gras Day will also be known as National Pancake Day.

And IHOP is preparing to cook up free short stacks for guests in observance of the holiday.

From 7:00 am until 7:00 pm at IHOP locations across the country, guests can get one free short stack of buttermilk pancakes per guest.

IHOP says there is also an opportunity to win free pancakes for life and other prizes.

And the free pancakes are all for a good cause.

IHOP and Shriners Hospitals for Children have teamed up to give back to children battling illnesses and help those families create more moments together.

Shriners says that the hospital makes sure that all children receive care regardless of their family's ability to pay.

In lieu of what they would normally pay for their stack of pancakes, guests can show their support for Shriners Hospitals for Children efforts in several ways

  • Making an on-check donation
  • Purchasing a wall tag icon at any IHOP restaurant
  • Making a donation online with their IHOP 'N GO orders (Donations are only available when ordering directly from www.ihop.com or the IHOP app)
