Hair salons are some of the most highly anticipated businesses to reopen Friday, and the owner of Glam Salon in Opelousas says, “it’s like Christmas morning!”
Blair Miller says she knows she can’t hug her clients, but even in strange circumstances she’s excited to see them again.
According to Leslie Courville, the manager at Glam, customers will be expected to wait in the parking lot rather than a traditional waiting room for their appointments.
“When we’re ready for them after we’ve sanitized everything from previous clients we’ll go outside and get them and bring them in. When they come in we’ll screen them, take their temperature. We ask all of them to wear masks and not bring any visitors with them, to come alone,” says Courville.
Children are the exception to this rule. They may have one adult sit in on an appointment.
As for cleaning, stylists have been taught rigid sanitation methods from the beginning.
“When you’re going through Beauty school, you’re like what is all this for, but in times like this I’m glad we got that hard core training at the beginning because it carried through,” says stylist Dusty LeBlanc.
Salons will also have six or more feet between chairs.
