Parenting Questions: Navigating Mardi Gras with family

If you've enjoyed a fun-filled Mardi Gras weekend, don't tire out just yet.

Acadiana has so much more to offer as the carnival season gets underway.

For parents who are hoping to get their children out to as many parades as possible, KATC has a preview of what's to come heading into Fat Tuesday.

The following is just a short list of the many Mardi Gras events happening in Acadiana for the 2020 season.

In Lafayette Parish

On Saturday, February 22, The Children's Parade will roll through Downtown Lafayette at 12:30 pm. And just a few miles away in Youngsville will have its annual parade at 11:00 am.

Monday, February 24, at 6:00 pm folks will be lining up along the Lafayette parade route to catch a glimpse of Queen Evangeline. And on Tuesday, February 25, King Gabriel will kicks off his parade at 10:00 am.

To end the Mardi Gras celebrations, the Lafayette Festival Parade at 1:00 pm and the Independent Parade at 2:30 pm.

In St. Landry Parish

You can enjoy music, food, and lots of dancing in Eunice with their five day festival kicking off on Friday, February 21.

On Tuesday, February 25, Opelousas celebrates Mardi Gras day with a parade starting at 11:00 am. The route travels down from the Farmers Market Pavilion to Liberty Street.

Stick around after the parade for a little zydeco dancing at Beau's Garage from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

In Iberia Parish there's no shortage of activities going on for the Mardi Gras holiday.

On Mardi Gras Day in Jeanerette the Grand Marais Mardi Gras Parade starts at 11:00 am.

And in Loreauville revelers can enjoy a Family Affair Mardi Gras starting at 2:00 pm.

In Acadia Parish the famous Tee Mamou-Iota Mardi Gras Folklife Festival

It starts at 9:00 am on Mardi Gras with the food, music, and lots of fun. It all leads up to the Mardi Gras appearance at 2:00 pm.

And in Crowley you can enjoy fair rides, live music, dancing and costume contests starting at 10:00 am with a parade rolling through town at 2:30 pm.

In Vermilion Parish

The Krewe Chic-A-La-Pie Mardi Gras parade rolling through downtown Kaplan at 2:00 pm.

In Evangeline Parish

The Mamou Mardi Gras begins while the day is young on February 25.

If you haven't been, it's definitely an experience to remember.

For those if you're heading downtown for Mardi Gras, that celebration starts at 9:00 am.
