LAKE CHARLES — It's no surprise that a global pandemic wreaked havoc on artists and musicians across the country with canceled shows and postponed events leaving many without a sustainable source of income.

Add COVID-19 restrictions with back-to-back hurricanes, the situation for Louisiana musicians, particularly those in Lake Charles has reached a dire emergency.

Luckily, fellow creatives across the state have made it their mission to help those without a gig, and many, without a home.

On Saturday, October 24th, area musicians are all coming together to help their fellow musicians in Lake Charles with an online Fundraising concert.

Cajun and Zydeco musician and Acadian author Zachary Richard organized the fundraiser for the Lake Charles Music Relief Fund, which was created after Hurricane Laura which hit the same parts of Southwest Louisiana that Hurricane Delta did, six weeks later.

Featured musicians for the event include Sonny Landreth, Sean Ardoin, the Jourdan Thibodeaux, Cedric Watson and Joel Savoy trio, Ronnie Frugé, Yvette Landry & Richard Comeaux, Corey Ledet, Feufollet trio, Zachary Richard, Beau Thomas, Dudley Frugé trio, Sam Broussard & Barry Jean Ancelet, Roddie Romero, Julie Williams & Kelli Jones, and David Torkanowsky.

The concert will take place at 7 p.m. on Facebook Live. You can watch it here.
