Communities across the country have an annual Nutcracker performance, but two local artists Leigha Porter and Jazmyn Jones say those performances are nothing like what awaits at Angelle Hall this December.

"The Creole Nutcracker" highlights Creole culture and gives the youth of Acadiana a chance to showcase their talents.

The story follows Clarice on a magical journey back home through some of the most historical parts of Louisiana.

The performance is full of toy soldiers, mice, music, and dance that the university says is sure to keep audiences entertained.

Last year's performance sold out and caught the attention of people around the world including an international magazine.

This year, two performances will be held.

Performances begin Sunday, December 8 at Angelle Hall starting at 1:00 pm.

The second performance will follow at 6:00 p. m.
