Lafayette Regional Airport is ready for holiday travelers after months of slower traffic than usual.
This Thanksgiving, Executive Director Steven Picou says they're expecting a bump in traffic, but nothing like what could be expected during a regular holiday season. Still, there are some guidelines in place that travelers should know before heading to the airport.
"We expect higher numbers of people coming in. Some of the things we've asked are follow CDC recommendations so that people should wear face coverings entering the building dealing with individuals and also have social distancing and then the airline would maintain that you also have to have face coverings as well," says Picou.
Earlier in 2020, a second TSA line was put in place.
"We now have two security lines. This second security line was built right before Covid hit so we really haven't been able to exercise that. But hopefully in this holiday season we'll be able to exercise the two lines," says Picou.
The CDC recommends avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth when traveling. Lafayette Regional Airport officials will enforce mask wearing and will offer a mask to any travelers without one.
