GMA Cool Schools: Opelousas Catholic

Operation Viking Relief
Posted
and last updated

Being “service-minded”, Opelousas Catholic School responded quickly to the needs of our neighbors in southwest Louisiana following the devastation from Hurricane Laura.

Senior ministry students led the efforts by immediately organizing “Operation Viking Relief”, a drive to collect needed items such as bottled water and paper items. They had a great response as they attempted to fill up the Viking bus for delivery of these goods.

They also gave up a weekend to work at the damaged Our Lady's Catholic School in Sulphur. This school was attended by the current Opelousas Catholic Principal, Marty Heintz. Making it extra special to the staff, students and families.

If you have a Cool School, let us know! Send Dave Baker an email to weather@katctv.com. Put Cool Schools in the subject line. Include a picture and a short story about why your school is cool.
