Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Erath, and the whole town is involved in preparing.

"It's been a lot of fun and a lot of people came out just to help. I helped build the gingerbread man and paint it and I helped build any other wooden features at city hall," says Elise Mencacci, the mayor's daughter.

"She also helped build our gingerbread house," says Mayor Taylor Mencacci, who rounded up his whole family and a few volunteer groups to transform city hall and much of Erath into a winter wonderland.

This is all leading up to a full afternoon and evening of Cristmas events downtown this Saturday.

"Starting at 4 o' clock were going to have 20 local businesses that are cooking. It will be free food for all that come and also we are going to have 20 craft vendors set up, farmers market style. Essentially that's the only thing you're going to have to pay for when you come," says Mayor Mencacci.

"We have a lot of things that people can enjoy. Santa pictures, a train ride, cut outs to take other pictures and we have shops that are going to be around so its going to be a lot of fun," says Elise, who is most looking forward to shopping.

It will be an opportunity to take your Christmas photos, buy gifts, and experience all the joys of Christmas with the whole Erath community.

"They don't have to travel outside of Erath to get the beautiful thing such as Christmas so its so important to have these festivities and these events in Erath to keep the people here in Erath,"says Mayor Mencacci.
