Happening today, the intersection at Kaliste Saloom Road and E. Broussard Road will be shut down.
The intersection is being closed for crews to build a roundabout in the area.
While construction is being completed drivers will not be allowed to enter or exit Kaliste Saloom Road at this intersection.
In the meantime drivers will be diverted onto the newly constructed four-lane bridge just east of Kaliste Saloom Road for travel.
This new interchange will have a three way stop at E. Broussard.
When the switch began this morning there was some confusion as to whom had the right of way as drivers did not see the stop signs.
And going from a traffic light to stop signs is expected to cause even longer delays at the intersection.
Civil Engineer of the project, Mark Lavergne, advises drivers to expect delays and to avoid the area if possible.
The project is expected to last 5-6 weeks weather permitting.
