Start your holiday season a little early this year at Maison Stéphanie's Festival des Arts in Arnaudville.
On Wednesday, Abby Breidenbach shared more on an event taking place this weekend that may help knock a few presents off any shopping list and get you in the holiday spirit.
Under the beautiful oaks of the historic 18th century property, up to 30 tents will be set up showcasing work from local artists.
The event is being held in place of the annual Open Studio Tours where typically guests would visit dozens of local artists studios around Acadiana to watch them create and purchase holiday gifts.
This year, the artists will all be in one place, accompanied by local musicians and set outside to following COVID-19 guidelines. Those who attend the sale are also asked to bring and wear a mask.
The owners of Maison Stéphanie hope the festival will help artists in a year when they haven't had many opportunities to sell their work.
"This event should give our community an opportunity to do some christmas shopping with local artists and give artists an opportunity to recoop some of the money they have not been able to make with the restrictions on visiting galleries and those types of events," they said.
Each artist pays a small fee to sell their wares at the event and the owners of the property are pouring that money into another cultural effort.
It's all going into local non-profit, Cecilia French Immersion, to benefit the french immersion programs at Teche Primary and Teche Elementary School in St. Martin Parish. Those wishing to make a donation to the non-profit can contact Maison Stéphanie directly on Facebookor by emailing douetk66@gmail.com.
The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the following times:
Saturday, November 21
10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Sunday, November 22
12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
The address for Maison Stephanie is 1862 Bushville Hwy.
