Acadiana Animal Aid and Raising Cane's are teaming up to help raise money to provide homes for pets in need.

AAA Director Heidi Paterson joined GMA with expert snuggler Chip who will be up for adoption along with his twin sister Jojo.

The holidays are often a wonderful time to consider adopting or fostering an animal, according to Paterson.

And with the help of Raising Cane's, patrons can give back to rescue organizations like Acadiana Animal Aid with the purchase of a "Jingle Cane Plush Puppy" with their meal.

Net proceeds raised through the plush puppy program will go directly to those animal welfare groups. Since 2004, over $850,000 has been donated through the program to no-kill pet welfare shelters.

The cost of a plush is just under $10.

Those looking to bring an animal home for the holidays can do so at Animal Aid's 3rd annual Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 14.

The event is free and takes place from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm at Acadiana Animal Aid on Le Medicin Road in Carencro.

There, families can meet potential best friends of all types including cats, dogs, puppies, and kittens.
