Abby's Apps: Meal Me

Most of us probably visit a handful of apps to decide what to eat and where we'll get it from.

But now you can do all of that work in one place.

With Meal Me, founded by Lafayette native Matt Bouchner, users of other popular meal delivery apps can find the cheapest option when hunger strikes.

"If you use Waitr, DoorDash, Postmates, or Uber Eats, we tell you the cheapest option for every restaurant," says Bouchner. "As food delivery got more popular I realized there's all these disparate food delivery apps that need to be aggregated because there's a big price discrepancy between them."

The app is simple to use.

First, users search for the food they'd like to order.

Bouchner says that users can estimate the amount they'd like to spend on a meal to find the best option for delivery in their area.

After finding the best price, users can click through to the food delivery app and make their purchase.

Delivery prices may vary depending on the number of people in your party, so Bouchner says the Meal Me app is a great way to compare and save on those extra charges.

But Meal Me doesn't stop at price comparisons, it's also got options for indecisive eaters.

"If you don't know what to eat you can look at different categories, and the app will share what the fastest delivery will be," says Bouchner. "The most popular in the area is not necessarily the fastest."

There is a social aspect to the app as well where you can share and scroll through food pictures and order right away when something looks good.

"You see all these good looking food pictures and the coolest thing about this is that you can order it immediately and it gives you other options."

And when you're no longer social distancing, the app is also capable of making reservations so that users can continue to find deals while enjoying a night out.
