On July 13th volunteers will show Acadian Middle we love our schools by painting dozens of doors, updating an old teachers lounge, pruning and planting new foliage, giving the front sign a facelift, and on top of all that, student-athlete Trevor Myers and Coach Jabein August say there’s one improvement that will do wonders for school spirit.
“I’m so happy to get bleachers for our school so while I’m in the game our friends can come and support,” says Myers, who plays on several of the school’s athletic teams.
New stadium seating will be constructed on the sidelines of the main field where currently fans are expected to just stand around or sit inside their cars to watch games.
“They’ll have that big fan base that can come and support because there’s somewhere to sit now and not sit in the wet grass when it rains or try and peep from the car, you know, the kids will have that extra support,” says Coach August.
This support, he adds, will lend to his athletes’ sense of community on and off the field.
“It takes a village to raise a child so the kids should always know that more than just Coach August and their parents support them. The teachers support them, the family, the community, stakeholders, everybody is just loving on them and has their back,” says August.
Everyone and anyone can help on July 13. To see what projects will be happening at the different schools and to sign up visit the Love Our Schools website at www.loveourschoolsfoundation.org.
KATC will also have a phone bank for folks to ask questions or donate from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 4.
We’ll be previewing each of the 8 schools that will share in the love during this initiative leading up to July 13. See the schools we’ve previewed so far, below.
