There are only two days left to enter into Lourdes Foundation’s “Rock this Raffle” giveaway.

Tickets are $50 and will go towards offering free health care services to people in need here in Acadiana.
The Lourdes Foundation will also give away a brand new Jeep Wrangler and Mazda Miata. The names of the two winners will be drawn next Wednesday, March 20 on KATC.

Church, for most, is a place of worship to tend to spiritual well being. But across Acadiana, Our Lady of Lourdes is working to make church so much more.

“It’s about the whole person because that’s important,” says Congregational Health Services Liason, Linda Peters. “So, we build relationships. ”

The Congregational Health Program builds relationships that link people without medical insurance to others in their same parish who can help them get the healthcare they need.

“We come in and we ask those who are volunteers maybe who are actually in the healthcare field to work with us on a healthcare ministry team,” says The Lourdes Foundation’s Elisabeth Arnold.

Peters says that the program does everything it can to get medication to those that need it. Reminding those individuals that they are respected and loved and that there are still those in the community that is looking out for them.

And beyond flu shots or antibiotics, the church-based programs make sure all aspects of wellbeing are taken care of.

“We have exercise programs, we do blood pressure, blood sugar screenings,” says Arnold. “It’s a way for us to keep people in this community healthy through their churches.”
