On this morning’s edition of Ca C’est Bon, Abby Breidenbach was LIVE at Vermilionville and she’s showing us how to make a Mardi Gras favorite, king cake!

Ingredients and steps for preparing this delicious king cake can be found in the videos or by clicking here.

Mixing up a king cake is simpler than you might imagine. In our first video, Vermilionville chef Mandi LaCombe shows us how quick and easy the dry and wet ingredients come together to form the base of our future king cake.

After a two hour rest and rise, the dough is ready for its next few steps. Rolling, filling, folding, and forming are the all-important techniques that help to get this sweet treat ready for the oven. Of course, we can’t forget that necessary second-rise before the cake finally makes it to the oven.

Finally, its time to decorate! Keeping an eye on our cake as it baked for 25 to 30 minutes at 350 degress, we patiently let it cool completely before lovingly layering our cake in its iconic mardi gras tri-colors.  Truly, a Ca C’est Bon moment!

Looking to impress friends and family this carnival season? This recipe is definitely a must try! Make it your own by adding your favorite filling and striking up the debate: icing or sprinkles.
