The Singing Christmas Tree bringing sounds of the holidays to Lafayette

The Singing Christmas Tree will give its first performance on Friday, December 14 at First Baptist Church in Lafayette.

Abby Breidenbach was LIVE this morning with a preview of the performances.

Friday’s event will be the first of four performances of the singing tree. Friday night’s show will be at 7:00 pm. Three more performances will follow on Saturday and Sunday at 3:00 pm and on Monday at 7:00 pm.

The Singing Tree, according to the church, has been a favorite holiday event in Acadiana since the mid-1980s. The tree stands about 30 feet tall and chorus members fill its “branches” to sing out the sounds of Christmas.

The children’s, youth, and adult choirs will be accompanied by the church orchestra. The performances will also include a dramatization of the events leading to the birth of Jesus.

Tickets are free and can be found at fbclaf.org

The church is located at 1100 Lee Avenue in Lafayette.
