Lafayette Ballet Theatre to hold Nutcracker auditions

This weekend the Lafayette Ballet Theatre will hold auditions for their classic holiday production of “The Nutcracker.”

Abby Breidenbach was LIVE at the theatre this morning with more information on the audition process.

Auditions for the Lafayette Ballet Theatre’s annual production of “The Nutcracker” will be held Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9 in Lafayette.

On Saturday, LBT will conduct the 15 to professional auditions for advanced point work while on Sunday auditions will be held for those ages 8-14 and tumblers. Roles being cast in the production will include angels, soldiers, party scene and Land of the Sweets cast.

Auditions will be held at the new Lafayette Ballet Theater location at 201 Petroleum Drive. Those auditioning must have at least one year of ballet experience and be at least eight years old. Dancers should be dressed in ballet attire.

An audition fee of $35 is required for dancers ages 8-17. Checks should be made out to Lafayette Ballet Theater.

The Lafayette Ballet Theatre’s production of the Nutcracker will be held on Saturday, December 8 and Sunday, December 9 at the Heymann Performing Arts Center.

KATC’s Abby Breidenbach spoke with the artistic directors for “The Nutcracker” who shared their insight on what December’s performance will have in store.

Abby also spoke with one of the theatre’s contacted dancers, Camille Reaux, who will be auditioning this weekend.
