Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana will hold a Group Orientation Today, August 28 at their office at 123 East Main Street in downtown Lafayette.
The organization is looking for men to step in and mentor more than 60 boys who are waiting to be matched with a Big Brother.
KATC’s Abby Breidenbach was LIVE this morning with more from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana and today’s orientation event.
The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. and offers information to folks who would like to be a mentor. The orientation takes about an hour. Prospective mentors must be at least 18 years old and be able to spend at least four hours a month with their mentee.
The organization says that the mentorship program is an opportunity to help shape a child’s future by empowering them to achieve while sharing in the fun of activities like sports, hiking, reading books, or enjoying a pizza.
