Today, the Acadiana Law Enforcement Conference continues at the Grand Opera House of the South in Crowley.

KATC’s Abby Breidenbach was LIVE this morning with more information about the conference.

This morning at 7:00 am officers from around Acadiana will meet for their second day of the Acadiana Law Enforcement Conference in Crowley. The conference began on Tuesday evening with guest speakers Judge Harmon Drew and his wife Jean who spoke to officials about the changes to several laws.

Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson says that just three years ago the conference was a much smaller event and that it was primarily focused on Acadia Parish. Now the conference has grown to include officers and law enforcement organizations from across the state.

The conference continues today with classes on searches and seizures, report writing, domestic violence abuse, and other topics.

Organizers say that changing laws and recent court rulings make the conference a necessary resource for officers.
