One Acadiana President and CEO Troy Wayman joined GMA this morning to share details on the organization’s upcoming “An Expert’s Perspective” event.
The event will feature economist Dr. Loren Scott who will give his forecast on Acadiana’s regional economy. Wayman says he believes this year’s forecast will be slightly more optimistic than what it has been in the past. The focus will be mainly on Acadiana but will also include comments on the region’s involvement in Louisiana’s economy, as well.
Wayman says the area has seen a very gradual rise in the price of oil which he says are good signs for the economy. Significantly, the unemployment rate has dropped to 5.1% from two years ago when the rate was 8.2%. Dr. Scott will cover these topics and others during the event.
An Expert’s Perspective will take place on Wednesday, September 26 from 7:00 am to 9:00 am at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Lafayette.
