The Lafayette Referee Association will be hosting entry-level soccer referee courses in August.
Four dates are set for referee training, two in Lafayette on Wednesday, August 15 and Saturday, August 18 at the UL ROTC Building on the UL Lafayette Campus and in Iberia Parish on Thursday, August 16 and Sunday, August 19 at Magnolia Elementary.
Classes will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on weekdays and from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Students can begin the course at about 12 years of age and begin refereeing at grade 8 which will certify them to do local Rec Play in the area. Students can then take the opportunity later to continue through the training system.
The course will include an online component, classroom instruction, and field session. A written exam will follow the end of the course.
