KATC’s Abby Breidenbach was LIVE in Forked Island at Simple Eats Cafe where they are already preparing for winter and especially Christmastime.

Simple Eats Cafe is kicking off its 2nd annual Food, Coat, Sock and Toy Drive today, August 1 to help families in need this holiday season. Last year the drive helped over 100 families and organizer Stephen Ledet says that the goal this year is to help 200 families.  A dinner held by the Cafe last year fed over 175 people, the goal this year is to feed around 275.

Those wishing to help out with the drive can drop off coats, socks, toys, food, and other items that can help families in need. Donations can be dropped off at Simple Eats Cafe located at 21218 Keno Road in Abbeville or at the KC Hall in Kaplan. The food drive will be accepting donations until Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve supplies will be delivered to families.

Those who have a family in mind that may benefit from the drive can contact Stephen Ledet at 337-642-9565 or at Simple Eats Cafe on Facebook.
