Acadia Crime Stoppers: Man wanted for stealing tractor

Acadia Parish Crime Stoppers needs help from the public locating 44-year-old Billy Joe Hanks.

Hanks is described as six feet, one inch in height and weighs 160 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and his last known address is 206 Blue Bonnet Dr., Crowley.

After Hanks led deputies on a high-speed pursuit he exited his vehicle and then evaded deputies by swimming across a bayou, according to Sheriff KP Gibson. Later, he allegedly stole a John Deere Tractor from a nearby farmer. The tractor was recovered the following day.

Hanks is wanted for felony theft, aggravated flight from an officer, criminal damage to property and criminal trespassing.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
