St. Landry Parish Crimestoppers is asking for help in solving an armed robbery in the Cankton area.
On May 31, 2019, deputies were dispatched to the Cankton Country Bar located at 126 Billeaux Road in Cankton. The bars video footage was able to catch the suspect earlier that night without his mask on. Later that night the victim and a friend were outside the bar near his vehicle when someone approached him from behind and placed a firearm under his chin. The victim and his friend tried to fight the suspect off but were struck in the head and face with the firearm. The suspect robbed the victim of over 3,000 dollars in cash and then fled on foot through the woods.
The suspect was wearing a black hoodie, nearly 5’9″ in height, black rubber boots, and had dreadlocks. Both victims were admitted into an area hospital and treated for their injuries.
