If you consider yourself an ice cream lover but aren’t rocking Brooks’ newest running shoes, you need to step up your game.
Their new ice cream-inspired running shoes are part of their Brooks Running Melts collection that pays tribute to many runners’ favorite post-run treat during the summer. (Health and wellness is about balance, isn’t it?!?) The new designs can be found in limited-edition Ghost 12 and Ricochet LE shoes beginning July 25.
The designs draw inspiration from favorite flavors like rainbow sherbet and vanilla with sprinkles for the women’s shoes. The sherbet design features a colorful, swirled midsole meant to look like melting ice cream, while the vanilla sprinkle shoes have creamy neutral tones and a sprinkle-patterned midsole, plus ombre shoelaces that fade from pink to orange.
The men’s shoes are made to look like cookies-and-cream ice cream and a firecracker Bomb Pop. The cookies-and-cream design feature browns and blacks complemented by creamy whites. There are even cookie crumbles that speckle the midsole and matching shoelaces! The rocket-pop design is inspired by the popular tri-colored ice pop featuring red, white and blue, which fade from one color to the next.
“Some of our favorite runs are under the sun during summer, and we know that many runners, like us, enjoy a cold, tasty post-run treat to cool down,” director of footwear merchandising Brice Newton said in a press release. “With the Melts Collection, we give a special nod to those moments by paying tribute to the ice cream and Popsicle flavors we turn to after the miles are in the bank.”
Going beyond the fun on the outside, the shoes are built tough for all the running you’ll be doing this summer (hey, gotta work those muscles if you’re going to eat lots of ice cream).
The Ghost 12 shoes feature newly engineered mesh as well as a 3D Fit Print upper for a secure fit. Brooks says the shoe’s cushioned midsole provides a “just-right softness” without losing responsiveness and durability. The shoes also have an integrated system of shock absorbers for a smooth heel-to-toe transition when running.
The Ricochet LE features the company’s BioMoGo DNA and DNA AMP cushioning, which Brooks says provides a light, responsive ride to give more energy back to each stride. The only difference in design with these ones is that the women’s Ricochet LE in vanilla sprinkles also features a waffle cone-inspired saddle.
The Ghost 12 shoes cost $130 and the Ricochet LE’s are $120. You can find them online or at select retailers.
