Police are asking for help from the public in solving a homicide investigation.
The body of Mitize Galimidi, 32, was found on the side of Sweet Lake Camp Road on Wednesday, September 26 at 7:12 a.m. in Cameron Parish.
A school bus driver spotted Galimidi’s body Wednesday morning. Cameron Parish Sheriff Ron Johnson said Galimidi was already dead when she was brought to the scene and her body had been there for less than 24 hours.
Sheriff Johnson said someone likely tried to set Galimidi’s body on fire to destroy evidence. Rain likely prevented the fire from burning the woman’s corpse, according to the state fire marshal’s office.
Galimidi was last seen on Tuesday, September 25 at midnight walking south on Ryan St. in the area of Center Stage and The Bad Apple Saloon.
The Sheriff said that he does not believe the body has a connection to the severed head found near Calcasieu Lake in Cameron Parish on March 1. He said Galimidi’s body was discovered on the opposite side of the parish.
In that case, the Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office said the woman’s head was found in a plastic bag on the shoulder of Hwy 27 and that it was believed the head had been outside for about three months.
