The 37th Annual Southwest Louisiana Zydeco Music Festival is kicking off in Opelousas.
The theme for 2019 is “All Roads Lead to Opelousas, It's Zydeco Country.” The festival celebrates the roots of Zydeco and Creole culture.
The festival opens with the kick-off dance on Friday, August 30 at Evangeline Downs starting at 9:00 pm. Live music will be performed by Jeremy Fruge & the Zydeco Hot Boyz & DJ Troy Dee, and Traditional Zydeco Artist.
The Zydeco Parad lines up at 8:00 a.m. Saturday on Hwy 190, Wallior St & Grolee St, Opelousas and travels through Landry St Downtown Opelousas to the Festival Grounds.
The Yambilee Festival Grounds will be the site for the festival. Gates will open at 12:00 p.m. Saturday
The festival is $15.00 for adults and $5.00 for Kids.
