Audience and critic film favorite from 2018 “A Quiet Place” is getting a sequel, and it has already started shooting!
The new project is a follow-up to the 2018 thriller about a post-apocalyptic world in which humans are hunted by aliens with a keen sense of sound. John Krasinski, who co-wrote, directed, and starred in the original film, is also directing and writing the new one.
On July 15, Krasinski tweeted an image of a clapperboard with a “Roll 01, Scene 1, Take 1” label for the film, adding a simple “#PartII” hashtag to his tweet.

Fan reaction? Excitement expressed largely through “The Office” GIFs.
Twitter user @pamelajimothy replied (with words), “I SCREAMED AT WORK,” to which fellow Twitter user @FH_Swimmons responded “no stop that’s the exact opposite of what you’re supposed to do.” It’s a reference to the movie’s key plot point that characters must remain completely silent to escape detection by predatory extraterrestrials.

Krasinski’s wife and “A Quiet Place” co-star, Emily Blunt, who played the Abbott family matriarch, will also be back for the second movie. Also returning are actors Millicent Simmonds, who plays the hearing-impaired eldest Abbott child in the film, and Noah Jupe, who plays her brother.
Krasinski previously expressed to Entertainment Weekly that he wasn’t originally sure about making a sequel to “A Quiet Place,” in which he plays a father trying to navigate through an alien-infested landscape with his family.
But he changed his mind when he realized that this world has more stories to tell.
“It’s not like ‘Alien’ or ‘Jaws’ where the main villain is the thing you’re repeating,” Krasinski told EW. ” it’s an actual entire set of rules and the circumstance that the world has undergone that you can play in very different facets.”
“I think people feel very invested in this family,” said Blunt, in the same EW segment, of “A Quiet Place”‘s Abbotts.
Cillian Murphy and Brian Tyree Henry are also reportedly involved in the sequel.
According to EW, the first “A Quiet Place” grossed $340 million worldwide, so it’s no wonder there’s demand for a second film.
Part II’s slated release date is March 20, 2020.
