Helene expected to become a major hurricane Tuesday

Hurricane Helene continues to get better organized with a large eye developing and winds now up to 105 mph.

In the next 24 hours the National Hurricane Center expects Helene to strengthen even more as it moves over warm waters and encounters low shear causing it to become a major hurricane Tuesday afternoon with winds getting as high as 115 mph.

Latest on Hurricanes Isaac

Isaac has remained a weak category 1 hurricane today with sustained winds of 75 mph as it encounters some upper level wind shear.

The latest track from the National Hurricane Center keeps Isaac on a westerly track across the Atlantic towards the Lesser Antilles.

Wet, unsettled weather pattern continues all week

No real change in the forecast the next couple days as a stationary front will be draped over Acadiana.

This front will be the focal point for scattered showers and storms to fire up Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon.

Florence strengthens to powerful category 4 hurricane

Hurricane Florence continues to undergo rapid intensification as it has strengthen from a weak category 1 hurricane to a massive category 4 storm in the pass 18 hours.

As of the 11am update Monday Hurricane Hunters detected that Florence had sustained winds of 130 mph.

UPDATE: I-10 East near Henderson now open

UPDATE: All lanes are now open I-10 East at Mile Marker 113 (before Henderson). Congestion has reached three miles. —————————————– The right lane is blocked I-10
