On Sunday evening, the Scott Fire Department responded to a reported trash truck fire.
Firefighters say they responded to the scene after a caller was passing by and observed the fire that was at Republic Services in the Scott area. Scott FD responded to Republic Services on Mire Street but did not locate the fire.
Another caller reported the fire to be on Renaud Drive and firefighters responded to the area to assist. A Lafayette engine was also called out to the scene.
Upon arrival at the scene, which was at another Republic Services complex, firefighters located a trash truck engulfed in flames. The fire had also spread to a second trash truck.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control, stopping the spread of fire to other nearby trash trucks which were all parked in a single row.
No other details were provided on the fire. It is unclear how much damage the trash trucks received.
