Berwick woman dies, struck by vehicle in Morgan City medical office parking lot

Morgan City Police have identified the victim struck and killed by a vehicle in a medical office parking lot.

The incident occurred on a private drive near the intersection of LA Hwy 70 and Victor II Blvd. Preliminary investigation revealed that 55-year-old Tammy Warrington of Berwick was struck at the entrance to a business by an SUV.

Warrington was transported to Teche Regional Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries. The accident is still under investigation by the Morgan City Police Department.

Routine toxicology tests are pending.

Police spokesperson Capt. Betty Augman says that a woman was hit by a vehicle while in a medical office parking lot on Highway 70 in the city. Police say the incident happened around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2018.

No citations were given and no arrests were made.

The medical center, Augman says, is across the street from Teche Regional Medical Center.  KQKI reports that the woman in the parking lot may have suffered a medical issue and passed out prior to being hit. Morgan City Police could not confirm if this had occurred.

The victim has not been identified.
