A 59-year-old Opelousas man drowned Tuesday afternoon in St. Landry Parish.
The victim and another person were hitching a boat onto a trailer in Dubisson Lake when he went under water, according to officials.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident at the lake which is located off of I-49 near mile marker 34. His body was located and turned over to the St. Landry Parish Coroner’s Office.
The identity of the victim is not being released at this time.
The case remains under investigation.
